Spinifex Hopping Mouse

                                       The Spinfex Hopping Mouse

The Spinifex Hopping Mouse is a small rodent that lives in the bushy Australian desert. it is a nocturnal animal and has brown or sometimes grey fur.

The Spinifex Hopping Mouse has many adaptions to help it survive.some of these are, god  eyesight, their kidneys can absorb water from it's waste, a large tuft tail and big back legs. they have really good eyesight to  help them to hunt at night. It eats leaves, roots, shoots and insects. It's long tuft tail helps it to balance itself while hopping. The big back legs are used to give the mouse power two jump higher

They have a couple of behavioural adaptations too. The Spinfex Hopping Mouse stays in burrows tp prevent it from over heating, it is also nocturnal and avoid most of the days heat.

These Mouses have many threats to its survival, the biggest threat is probably the habitat loss. Every year the mouse looses many kilometres of habitat.

This animal is a very small, interesting animal. It has structural and behavioural features. The survival of theis animal depends on humans. If we dont stop destroying their habitat they will die.
