Emu’s are found in semi arid grasslands and desert woodlands near sandy soils in central Australia. Emus are like half herbivores as they only eat fruit, insects and small reptiles. Most Emu’s have pale blue skin on the neck and head and brow feathers on the rest of the body. Emu’s weigh between 35kg to 50kg depending on their age and they can grow between 1.5m and 1.9m.
Emu’s have only three toes. The reasons for this is that when a predator comes they can kick them, which will really, hurt because its middle toe is twice the size as your big toe (with very sharp nails). Another thing is Emu’s are very fast, and that’s why they have very, very long legs. Emu’s do have wings but they are way too big to fly.
One behavioral feature is that its only found in the deserts in Australia because they don’t like rain therefore they want to live somewhere hot and dry like Australian deserts.
Humans are big threats to Emu’s. The reason for this is that humans want the feathers to make clothes and much more.
In conclusion, the Emu is a very interesting animal because there are so many people who don’t know about it so maybe they should research it too. Now I hope you know more about this amazing animal.
