Barn owl

Barn owls are birds that live in every continent except Antarctica. They have white feathers near the head and the feathers get paler near the bottom. They have long legs and talons. Their body feathers downy soft, while the feathers on the ends of the wings are hairy. Most animals don’t have a heart shaped face but this one does. Small mammals are what they mainly eat. Last but not least they have big eyes.

Some behavioural adaptations that barn owls have is a head that can turn 180 degrees it does this because the bones in the barn owls head are so big that they cannot move their eyes so they have a head that can turn 180 degrees. Barn owls have a body which can camouflage in the long grass this is to help them catch prey.

Barn owls have many threats such as wedge-tailed eagles, pythons and feral cats. The last threats are cars. When barn owls fly they sometimes collide with the cars. Most barn owls fly in long tall grass to help them camouflage.
